Over 50 years of research on nurse practitioners has shown them to be as effective as doctors, in nearly every area of care, with higher levels of patient satisfaction. But social, economic and political interests are providing the primary motivation for their ever-expanding role.

Will newly available robust evidence of comparative effectiveness produce structural changes in US Health Care in the future? Your answers please.

The promising Comparative Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) initiative is designed to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of different medical interventions to ensure patients receive the most effective and cost efficient medical care. But there are reports it takes about 10 years for the results of well-designed trials to be adopted by physicians and actually used at the bedside.
